This section includes some Frequently Asked Questions concerning the Eligivs database and its interface to the Internet in the web site. For any question not answered in this section, or for more details about the research project and the software, please contact eligivs@sibrium.org. Q. What does the Eligivs on line section deal with? A. The section Eligivs on line provides an access to a subset of data included in the Eligivs database. By inserting in the search field the name and/or the surname of the character you are looking for, the system will give you as an output a table showing all the names matching with the peculiar search key. If you click on the "dettagli" button you will be able to visualize more in detail the different working periods of the selected character. Q. How can I get a password for the access to the Eligivs on line section? A. For any information go to the Get a password page. Q. Is it possible to make an advanced search with multiple entry questions (e.g. name and surname and working period)? A. It's not possible to make advanced searches in the Internet. For complex searches at the moment you have to access directly the Eligivs database. Q. I need to process an advanced search (e.g., to find out the working people in a peculiar mint). How can I do? A. You have to send by e-mail the details of the search explaining what do you need it for (e.g., personal research, graduation thesis...) to eligivs@sibrium.org. I will reply as soon as possible. Q. How complete is the Eligivs database? A. Eligivs is not a fulfilled database where it's possible to find all the people working in the Italian mints. It was thought to list omogeneously all the names that were found each time in various sources. At the moment it includes more than 3,900 voices, unfortunately representing only a small part of the whole characters that should be mentioned. Q. How often is updated the database available in the Internet? A. The on line database is updated every three months. Depending on the amount of new information, it may also be updated more often. All the updatings are mentioned on the home page of this web site. At the bottom of the pages in the Eligivs on line section you will find the date of the last updating and the number of voices and relations between workers and mints collected in the on line database. Q. Is it possible to contribute by marking out names not included in the Eligivs database? A. Any information about new names or mistakes is welcome. Please contact eligivs@sibrium.org. If you want to contribute with a list of names please use this file. |
