Luca Gianazza was born on December 24th 1974 and lives in Castellanza (Varese). He is an engineer and works in the mobile telecommunication field for Nokia Siemens Networks. He is interested in medieval and modern numismatics, expecially concerning the Savoy coinage and the mints in Lombardy and Piedmont from the XVI to the XVIII century. He is a fellow of Società Numismatica Italiana, Accademia Italiana di Studi Numismatici, Société Française de Numismatique, The Royal Numismatic Society and Magazzeno Storico Verbanese. He is an honorary fellow of Circolo Filatelico Numismatico Mantovano. He organized the congress Le onde della Storia sulla riva del Verbano. Macagno regia, imperiale e moderna dal Medioevo all'età contemporanea (Maccagno, April 12th 2003) and the exibition La "Zecha di Machagno Corte Regale". Storie di zecchieri e falsari nella Maccagno dei Mandelli e dei Borromeo (Maccagno, Civico Museo "Parisi-Valle", April 13th - June 29th 2003). In 2007 he organized the congress La moneta in Monferrato tra Medioevo ed Età Moderna (Turin, October 26th 2007) and edited the proceedings (Turin 2009). His book La zecca di Maccagno Inferiore e le sue monete won the "Solone Ambrosoli" award 2004 and the "Fondazione Banca Agricola Mantovana" award 2004. He is the author of Eligivs, a database used for the advanced management of the private data of the mint workers. The database Eligivs has been introduced to the public during the congress Monete in rete (Bologna, May 22nd 2003) and it now contains 6,568 names, 10,062 relations between workers and mints and 1,403 mint marks (last update: April 17th 2011). He was awarded the Oscar per la Numismatica 2006 (Italian national award for numismatics) by the Circolo Filatelico Numismatico Reggiano and the Premio "Albino Bazzi" 2008 for Numismatics by the Circolo Filatelico Numismatico Mantovano. Since 1994 he is following the wording of a bibliography about the works of numismatics from the Lombard Age till nowadays. At the moment he has computerized and indexed more than 8,000 titles. At the moment he is following some long term researches about the mints of Casale Monferrato (in the Gonzaga's time) and Masserano. Collaborations Collaborator of the Università degli Studi di Milano (chair of Numismatics, prof. L. Travaini) to the research project L'Immaginario e il Potere (coordinated by prof. M. Caltabiano), working out the Imago database, useful for classifying the mediaeval coins and their iconographic lemmas. Collaborator of the Euromint international research project (www.euromint.net). He followed the wording of the sections about the mints of Maccagno Inferiore and Turin. Collaborator of the volume Le zecche italiane fino all'Unità edited by L. Travaini (www.luciatravaini.it, section "Research").
