Aim of the congress was to begin a new phase of studies about the money used and minted in the Montferrat during the Medieval and Modern times. Most of the knowledges dealing with the coinage of this peculiar area are still today based upon studies dating to the second half of the XIX century and needing an update .

The lectures dealt with the following topics: circulation of coins in the Montferrat, activities of the local mints, monetary findings and relationships between the coins of the Montferrat and those of the foreign mints.
