Il Forrer (1902-30, IV, pp. 442-443) riporta: High Treasurer of the London Mint from the reign of Henry VIII. to that of Elizabeth (...) In 1549, during the reign of Edward VI., he was directed with others to restore the old standard of gold. In 1551 he coined the pound weight of silver – three quarters alloy and one fine – into seventy-two shillings' worth twelve pence apiece. Under Queen Elizabeth he helped to carry into effect measures for the restoration of the coinage.
